What Is Breast Reduction Surgery?
Body types vary considerably among women. Some women have uncomfortably heavy breasts, which might limit their activities. The weight is known to cause pain in the neck, shoulders, and back. It can also cause skin irritation on the bottom of the breasts. It can also be challenging to find clothes that fit well, which can impact our self-esteem.
Reduction mammoplasty can help ease this pain and give a woman more balanced, appealing body proportions. Getting a breast reduction has several aesthetic advantages:
- Your breasts will be lifted and firmer
- Bras will be more comfortable and appealing to wear.
- It can give your entire figure a more evenly proportioned look
- Stretched areolas can be minimized during the same procedure
- Swimsuits, sports bras, and form-fitting clothing will make you look and feel better, boosting your confidence during physical exercise.

The Benefits of Breast Reduction
Breast reduction surgery uses liposuction and other techniques to minimize the amount of extra skin and breast tissue, resulting in lighter, firmer, and more manageable breasts. Breast reductions give patients several advantages, including:
Less Pain
Large breasts can be cumbersome. Removing that weight can help relieve back, shoulder, and neck pain caused by your breasts and bras.
Better Mobility
Physical exertion might be difficult with heavy breasts. After a breast reduction, you can participate in sports, attend fitness courses, and work out to your full potential.
Improved Confidence
For those self-conscious about the size of their breasts, a breast reduction may be just what you need to slim down your figure. It can enhance your body proportions and allow you to wear whatever you desire!

Breast Reduction Surgery & Recovery
Breast reduction surgery is usually done as an outpatient operation under general anesthesia or intravenous sedation along with a local anesthetic.
Procedure
The procedure usually takes a couple of hours. Dr. Diego Ampudia, a Tijuana breast reduction surgeon, removes extra tissue, fat, and skin during the process. He may also raise the nipple and areola on the chest. Incisions are usually done around the areola, continuing vertically down the breast and following the natural curvature beneath the breast in the shape of a keyhole or racquet. Depending on the surgeon's opinion, the alternatives to the typical incision include a circular incision pattern around the areola, as well as an inverted "T" or anchor-shaped incision pattern.
Recovery
During the initial surgery appointment, Dr. Diego Ampudia will go through detailed recovery instructions. Patients undergoing breast reduction surgery must rest as much as possible immediately following surgery. Movement and activity should be restricted to allow for a smooth and quick recovery. A surgical bra may also be offered to the patient to be worn after the bandages and dressings have been removed. Medication can be prescribed for any post-op discomfort or pain.
Breast Reduction Options
Breast reduction surgery is typically performed as an outpatient procedure using general anesthesia or intravenous sedation with local anesthesia.
Liposuction for Breast Reduction
In certain circumstances, liposuction alone might be used to conduct this operation.
Liposuction for breast reduction is a quicker, less invasive operation, with nearly invisible scars on the breast. It also does a good job of reducing breast size in the long term.
However, only a certain subset of people will get the results they want from this method. For this reason, Dr. Ampudia only recommends this method to certain patients.
If you only want a small to moderate decrease in breast size, have little to no breast sagging, and are simply dealing with large breasts due to recent weight gain, liposuction might be right for you. However, if your breasts droop, are asymmetrical, have stretched skin, or if you’re looking for a large reduction in breast size, we recommend one of the other methods.

Vertical Breast Reduction
Ideal candidates for a vertical breast reduction are patients who have visible drooping and need a slight reduction in breast size.
This procedure involves two incisions: one around the areola and another that extends vertically from the bottom of the areola to the crease beneath the breast, or the inframammary fold. Dr. Diego Ampudia removes excess fat, skin, and breast tissue by using these two incisions if you want a more youthful-looking reduced breast.
Inverted-T Breast Reduction
Unlike vertical breast reduction, Dr. Ampudia makes three incisions for this procedure. One incision is made along the areola’s border, another is made from the areola down to the inframammary fold, and the last incision is made along the crease.
Dr. Ampudia usually recommends the inverted-T or anchor breast reduction for patients who need a more significant reduction in breast size and have significant sagging or asymmetry. This approach allows for more tissue removal and resculpting to achieve the desired results.
The scars from an inverted-T or anchor breast reduction are similar to those from a vertical reduction, except for an additional, thin scar that runs along the crease beneath the breast. With proper care, scars typically fade significantly within the first year or two after surgery and can be easily concealed by clothing, including a bikini top.

FAQ about Breast Reduction In Tijuana Mexico
What is breast reduction surgery like?
A breast reduction procedure normally involves rearranging your breast tissue, resulting in a more perky breast shape following surgery.
The best part is that you are no longer burdened by the weight of heavy breasts.
Most patients are pleasantly surprised and feel wonderful about themselves as a result.
What are good reasons to get surgery for breast reduction?
Surgery for breast reduction is commonly done because the patient is experiencing pain in their neck, back, or shoulders. Large breasts can exacerbate this pain and make it worse as gravity and aging take their toll on the body.
Can I have a breast reduction after/with other surgery?
Breast reduction is sometimes done as part of a mommy makeover package. If you want multiple procedures performed at the same time, please schedule an appointment with Dr. Ampudia to discuss your options.
What should I do after a breast reduction surgery?
Recovery is key. You will experience swelling after the procedure, so we provide a soft supportive bra for 6-8 weeks. This will help you heal more thoroughly and reduce discomfort following surgery. During recovery, make sure not to wear underwire bras as the wire can cause skin irritation.
