Introduction
Liposuction in Tijuana (Lipoplasty)
While a healthy lifestyle is ideal for weight management, each individual stores fat differently. Even someone who is slim and trim might acquire fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise. Liposuction can target these localized fat deposits by damaging and eliminating fat cells. It can be done with a laser, ultrasound, or a combination of both.
It can also be paired with a tummy tuck, breast reduction, or a “lift” of other places to provide stunning results. And while liposuction kills and eliminates fat cells, it is not a weight loss procedure.

Benefits
How Liposuction Is Performed
Liposuction is performed as an outpatient treatment by our physician under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. To make the regions hard and numb and to prevent bleeding, the undesirable fat is injected with a high amount of tumescent solution containing saline, lidocaine, and adrenaline.
Dr. Ampudia then inserts a narrow metal tube, known as a cannula, into small incisions and meticulously sculpts the region by sucking away the fat. Once the fat has been removed, your surgeon will seal the small incisions with surgical tape or stitches.
The anesthetic in the tumescent solution helps pain for 12 to 24 hours following surgery.

Recovering from Liposuction Surgery
The most recent developments in liposuction have lowered surgical recovery time. The length of time a patient needs rest and recuperate varies on the type of treatment performed and how comprehensive it was.
Liposuction patients should generally rest quietly at home and avoid unnecessary activity for several days after their procedure. This reduces total recuperation time. Depending on the location of the body treated, patients may need to wear a support garment for many weeks after their surgery. There may be some soreness following liposuction, but this may be managed with oral pain medication.
FAQ's
FAQ about Liposuction
To determine whether a patient is a good candidate for liposuction surgery, Dr. Ampudia's team will perform a battery of tests. However, patients should keep the following in mind:
- Patients must be at least 18 years old.
- Patients should not smoke or drink on a regular basis.
- Patients are aware of the recovery process after a major surgery as well as the potential complications.
- Patients are at a healthy weight (BMI of 27 or below) and have no high-risk conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, bleeding disorders, heart disease, or diagnosed depression.
Liposuction can be used to smooth, slim, and firm problem areas such as the neck, chin, upper arms, knees, calves, ankles, or breasts.
Patients who have already lost a significant amount of weight can benefit from lipoplasty to remove stubborn fat that is normally present after the loss. We also recommend removing excess skin: schedule an appointment with Dr. Ampudia to learn more!
