Panniculectomy recovery

A panniculectomy is often performed as an outpatient procedure. However, depending on the complexity of your surgery, you may be needed to spend the night in the hospital for observation and optimal recovery. Your surgeon will suggest at your pre-consultation to have someone drive you home after surgery and assist you for the first few days. Heavy lifting and intense activity should be avoided for a few weeks after your surgery.

Most patients lose between 5 and 10 pounds after surgery, however, this is not a weight loss procedure.
